Zhejiang University held the final of its 23rd “Music Beyond Boundaries” Campus Top Ten Singers Competition on the evening of May 27 at the Zijingang Campus theater. The new group of top ten singers took the stage with their passion for music, presenting some of the most memorable voices of the summer.

SHENG Shijie from the College of Energy Engineering won the championship with a steady and resonant voice. Performing songs including “Lanting,” “Guxiang” and “Ulaanbaatar,” he moved from tenth place in the first round to first place in the final ranking. Under pressure, he grew more confident on stage and gradually found his own rhythm.

GONG Kejia from the College of Optical Science and Engineering took second place. She moved easily among rap, rock and lyrical pop, entering the stage with an energetic beat and singing with confidence and a sense of youth. MAO Yihan from the College of Information Science and Electronic Engineering placed third. With a bright voice and a strong sense of storytelling, she performed challenging pieces in all three rounds and touched the audience with expressive emotion.

CUI Jingbin, a South Korean student from the College of International Education, was also named one of the top ten singers. Singing in a bel canto style, he conveyed the idea that music has no borders. The other top ten singers were YANG Yiqing from the School of Economics, whose sincere and layered voice traced the passage of time; YANG Yi from the School of Management, whose warm and composed singing drew listeners in; ZHENG Hanyue from the School of Economics, whose voice was described as bringing surprise like a rainbow after rain; SUI Chang from the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, whose clear and ethereal sound expressed both freedom and feeling; GAO Weixuan from Guanghua Law School, who told a story through a gentle voice and relaxed stage presence; and WANG Zihan from the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, whose lyrical pop performance carried the audience through the music.

The competition also recognized the most popular group. YANG Yi and XIE Jin, his partner from the College of Optical Science and Engineering, won the award with “Alone at Building C,” a song that energized the audience with a distinctive voice and catchy melody.

The event celebrated different ways of loving music. Each performance marked a new departure, and each voice carried its own rhythm. The competition closed with congratulations to the new top ten singers and wishes that every ZJU student’s passion may find a response on the stage of youth.
