Russian delegation of prominent public figures visits Zhejiang University

On May 20, an 18-member delegation of prominent Russian public figures, led by Vladimir Solovyev, Chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists, visited Zhejiang University.

The visit took place in a year of special significance for China–Russia relations, marking the 30th anniversary of the China–Russia strategic partnership of coordination, the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia, and the launch of the China–Russia Years of Education. Against this backdrop, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen dialogue and cooperation in education, culture, and media.

The delegation began its visit at the Zhejiang University History Museum, where members learned aboutthe university’s rich history, academic strengths, and educational achievements. Two Russian students at Zhejiang University, Maria and Isha, joined the visit and shared their experiences of studying and living in Hangzhou. Their stories were warmly received by the visitors and sparked lively and engaging exchanges with the delegation.

The delegation also held a roundtable discussion with representatives from Zhejiang University. YING Tianyu, Vice Director of the Office of Global Engagement, attended the meeting, together with other university representatives. The two sides exchanged views on talent cultivation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and media communication, and expressed a shared commitment to creating more opportunities for young people from China and Russia to learn from each other.

The visit further strengthened Zhejiang University’s ties with partners across Russia and injected fresh momentum into youth exchanges and international collaboration between the two countries.
