U.S. Senator Steve Daines visits Zhejiang University

On the morning of August 28, U.S. Senator Steve Daines led a delegation to visit Zhejiang University, touring the Future Learning Center.

Prof. REN Shaobo, Chairman of Zhejiang University Council, introduced the University’s general situation. He noted that Zhejiang University has a long history of academic development and a strong tradition of scientific research, and that the University’s brand of talent cultivation is having a growing global impact. He added that the University enjoys good cooperative relations with the American academic community, and expressed hope that exchanges with the United States could be further strengthened in the future.

Amb. GENG Shuang, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, said in his remarks that in recent years Zhejiang University has achieved a series of important accomplishments in its academic development and formed a distinctive ecosystem for scientific and technological innovation. He expressed hope that Zhejiang University would make greater efforts to promote cultural and educational exchange between China and the United States.

Also attending the meeting were U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Christian Marchant, WANG Hongwei (Member of the CPC Party Groupand Deputy Director-General of theDepartment ofForeign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government), GU Zhen (Associate Vice President of Zhejiang University), and other responsible officials from relevant units.
