The Zhejiang University delegation led by Vice President Yan Jianhua visited Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), École Polytechnique, Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen), Technische Universitaet Berlin (TUB) and Technische Universitaet München (TUM) to explore the prospects for partnership on March 13-22.
On March 14, the ZJU delegation paid a visit to TU/e in the Netherlands and held a talk with Executive Board Chairman Jan Mengelers, Rector Magnificus Frank Baaijens and Vice-Rector for International Relations Aarnout Brombacher. The two universities exchanged ideas regarding existing cooperative programs, particularly master's and doctoral programs in engineering. The delegation also visited the Philips High Tech Campus of TU/e so as to learn about the cooperative mode between TU/e and Philips. Moreover, a blueprint was drawn up for enhancing tripartite partnership among ZJU, Philips and TU/e on the basis of the Brain Bridge.


On March 16, the delegation visited École Polytechnique and met with Director-General Yves Demay and Vice President for International Relations Mathieu Le Traon. The two universities reached an agreement to launch a joint master’s program, develop undergraduate exchange programs and offer long-distance education as soon as possible. They also delved into details concerning the joint engineer institute.


On March 17, the delegation visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen and held a talk with Ernst Schmachtenberg, Rector of RWTH Aachen. The delegation also visited the Smart Logistics Cluster at RWTH Aachen—an institution aimed to let its industrial partners experience and research complex interrelations in logistics, production and services.


On March 18, the delegation visited TUB and met with Hans-Ulrich Heiss, Vice-President for Academics and Teaching. ZJU and TUB has cooperated with each other for more than 3 decades. Both sides looked forward to setting up a new platform for further partnership.


On March 21, the delegation visited TUM. Yan Jianhua presented detailed information about the development of ZJU in recent years and the preparatory work of the engineer institute. He hoped that both sides would implement every item on the signed agreement and expand cooperation.
