Princeton and ZJU to Launch Reciprocal Student Exchange Program

The 1st Reciprocal Student Internship Program between Princeton University and Zhejiang University will make its debut in the summer of 2016.

The program will last 8-12 weeks, starting in early to mid June and ending in mid August 2016. Princeton University will send 4 undergraduates to do their research internship in the domain of global health and biomedicine in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences and the Department of Public Health at Zhejiang University. Meanwhile, Zhejiang University will send 4 undergraduates to do their research as interns in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University.

Princeton University and Zhejiang University have partnered with each other in the field of medicine for more than a decade. As of 2006, Kang Yibin, Warner-Lambert/ Parke-Davis Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, and Zhou Tianhua, professor of Zhejiang University, have embarked on their substantial cooperation in molecular mechanism of cancer metastasis. In March 2013, Prof. Lynn Enquist, Dean of the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, paid a special visit to Zhejiang University and explored the prospects for long-term partnership. In addition, several Princeton University professors have also lectured at Zhejiang University.

On March 3-21, 2015, the Faculty of Medicine, Zhejiang University, and the Department of Molecular Biology, Princeton University, held the “ZJU-Princeton Academic Exchange Month”, covering a wide spectrum of activities, including reports, seminars, short-term lectures, visits and talks.
