Dr. Li Dak Sum Visits ZJU

On the afternoon of September 19, Dr. Li Dak Sum, the Founding Chairman of the Ningbo Residents Association (HK) and a Zhejiang University Trustee, led a delegation to visit Zhejiang University. President Wu Zhaohui extended his warm welcome to the delegation and delivered an address.

Dr. Li Dak Sum is an old friend of Zhejiang University. He has rendered generous financial and intellectual support to the infrastructure construction, disciplinary development and talent cultivation of the University. Wu sang the praises of Dr. Li Dak Sum’s generous contributions to the University. He said that “Dr. Li’s integrity, assiduity, creativity and broad-mindedness has inspired people from generation to generation.” Zhejiang University will be embracing its 120th anniversary in 2017. Currently, faculty and students alike are making concerted efforts to fulfill the goal of creating a world-class university. He pointed out that with the firm support of social elites like Dr. Li Dak Sum, Zhejiang University will be certainly able to adhere to its educational orientation and speed up its pace in building a prestigious university, thereby offering more human resources, scientific & technological support and spiritual motivation for China’s development.

Dr. Li Dak Sum said humorously that his current job was not to earn money but to spend money on education. He stressed that education should be a top priority for China to become stronger and richer. He hoped that Zhejiang University would put in more efforts to turn out more talents for China.

Li Po Chun, Chairman of the Ningbo Residents Association (HK), said that since the establishment of the association, it has made tremendous contribution to the prosperity of China for approximately 5 decades and has pledged many donations to education.
