At the ceremony, Chong Tow Chong expressed his cordial gratitude towards ZJU for its generous guidance and support in the past 6 years. “Partnership between the two universities has surpassed communication in education and research. We have fostered intimate friendship between each other. As with Longjing Tea, our relationship has grown increasingly mellow,” said he. He was firmly convinced that thanks to fruitful cooperation in the first phase, the two universities will set the stage for further development via a fusion of different cultures and unswerving adherence to the tenets of ‘seeking the truth and pioneering new trails’.

Song Yonghua extended his congratulations on the booming development and superb achievement of SUTD in the past several years. “ZJU is making every endeavor to create a world-class university. To support and facilitate the development of SUTD, it sets up the International Design Institute with a view to joining hands with SUTD to cultivate interdisciplinary designers and future leaders with global visions. ZJU is eager to deepen cooperation in the second phase so as to turn out innovative talents capable of resolving common problems with mankind,” said Song.
