The third edition of China Youth Internet Entrepreneurship Contest was held in Hangzhou on August 28-30. The project of visual aid glasses for the blind developed by a start-up team from Zhejiang University clinched first place in the final contest.

The contest was co-organized by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. Since its inauguration in June, a total of 7,183 projects signed up for this contest.
The visual aid glass for the blind constructs a comprehensive service ecological system via a wide spectrum of technologies, such as computer vision, AR and VR, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, smart control and smart sensing, on the basis of 3D voice coding. “My original intention was to perfect technologies, but with the progress of the project, I have fostered an increasingly keen sense of responsibility for the blind,” said Yu Honglei, who is in charge of the project. The registered company—Hangzhou KR-VISION Technology Co., Ltd.—will adhere to the mission of resolving challenges for visually impaired people and make every endeavor to improve the function and experience of visual aid glasses for the blind.
In recent years, Zhejiang University has been committed to cultivating students’ creativity and entrepreneurship. The Communist Youth League Committee of Zhejiang University has developed a “whole-chain” innovation and entrepreneurship system, at the core of which are awareness development, skill cultivation, project optimization, fund-raising synergy, team incubation and innovation and entrepreneurship contests, and has thus made a series of spectacular achievements.
