The first China-New Zealand Innovation and Commercialization Conference, co-organized by the University of Auckland and Zhejiang University, was held in Hangzhou on December 12-14.
The conference featured an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, including nine fellows of the Royal Society of New Zealand, and opinion leaders from various facets of the innovation ecosystem. It provided a wonderful opportunity for making meaningful connections and identifying ideas for investment and future collaborations.

“The ITRI entered into a partnership with Auckland UniServices in March this year. We will be committed to promoting cooperation,” said ZHAO Rongxiang, director of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Zhejiang University. “We look forward to more extensive cooperation in talent cultivation, technological innovation and commercialization of intellectual property.”
At the conference, the University of Auckland and ZJU showcased their internationally-recognized expertise in five key areas, including digital health, food for health, aluminum smelting technology and innovation, drug discovery and development, and advanced materials and manufacturing.

With the theme of “Ideas to Life,” the conference aimed to push forward the coordination of different national strategies, namely the “innovation-driven development strategy” of China and “innovation economy” of New Zealand. The conference has helped promote the cooperation between New Zealand and China in technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship
