The Global Research Immersion Program for Young Scientists (GripS), co-hosted by universities with exceptional strengths in basic and applied research in the Yangtze River Delta region, aims to enhance in-depth exchanges and collaboration between domestic and international students through joint research internships in top laboratories. While savoring the allure of scientific innovation, participants also have the opportunity to appreciate the unique cultural heritage of the Yangtze River Delta region. The inaugural GripS program in 2024, jointly organized by Zhejiang University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, and Nanjing University, attracted 155 participants from world-class universities such as the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and Princeton University.

Early on June 29, over 40 participants set out for DEEP Robotics with great anticipation. The quick response and ultra-high integrated perception of the Jueying series robots left the participants in awe. During the Q&A session, staff from the company’s R&D department provided the participants with deeper insights into the vital role and remarkable performance of intelligent robots in various fields, such as security inspection, exploration, and public rescue. This sparked heated discussions about the application scenarios and future trends of intelligent technology.

On the afternoon of June 29, the participants visited Hangzhou Future Sci-tech City, one of China’s four major future sci-tech, to gain an in-depth understanding of its development and future blueprint. They also visited S-Evans and LINX Robot, where they experienced the state-of-the-art products and technologies developed by these companies. This comprehensive, multi-angle experience showcased the advanced capabilities of sci-tech companies and enabled the participants to feel the vibrant pulse of innovation in Hangzhou.

Amazed and inspired by cutting-edge technology, GripS participants will proceed with their project research at Zhejiang University. Let’s look forward to their fabulous presentations on August 16!
