On June 5, Jennie Chen, Consul General of Canada in Shanghai, led a delegation to visit Zhejiang University. Vice President ZHOU Jianghong welcomed the guests, and the two sides discussed opportunities for deepening academic and cultural collaboration.

During the meeting, ZHOU Jianghong introduced Zhejiang University’s academic programs and disciplinary strengths. He highlighted the university’s strong commitment to global engagement, noting its active partnerships with leading Canadian universities such as McGill University, the University of Toronto, and the University of Alberta. These collaborations span talent development, scientific research, and medical innovation. ZHOU Jianghong also expressed his hope to expand cooperation with Canada, especially in youth exchange and mutual learning between civilizations, with the support of the Consulate General. “Together, we can address shared global challenges through deeper academic and cultural ties,” he said.

Jennie Chen spoke highly of Zhejiang University's achievements and its longstanding role in advancing higher education cooperation between China and Canada. She underscored the importance of educational exchange as a vital pillar of people-to-people ties and a key driver of bilateral relations. The Consulate General, she added, will continue to support university-level collaboration and encourage more Canadian students to study and engage in exchange programs in China.

As part of the visit, Jennie Chen attended the launch ceremony of the inaugural Global EMBA Program, a joint initiative between Zhejiang University’s School of Management and McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management, where she delivered congratulatory remarks.

The delegation also met with Professor LI Shi, a senior humanities professor, and ZHANG Weiwen, Associate Dean of the School of Public Affairs. Their discussions covered topics such as Zhejiang’s economic growth, strategies for common prosperity, and approaches to balanced regional development.
