ZJU President MA Yanming meets with Brunei Minister of Home Affairs

On November 17, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Brunei’s Minister of Home Affairs, visited Zhejiang University (ZJU), where he was warmly welcomed by ZJU President MA Yanming.

During the meeting, MA Yanming provided an overview of ZJU’s recent developments. He highlighted ZJU’s longstanding collaboration with Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Zhejiang Hengyi Group, including joint programs for cultivating petrochemical engineering talent and the establishment of a Belt and Road Joint Laboratory. Looking ahead, MA Yanming expressed ZJU’s commitment to further expanding cooperation with Bruneian universities in education, science and technology, and talent development, in a bid to foster closer people-to-people connectivity and advance regional cooperation.

Minister Ahmaddin expressed his appreciation for ZJU’s sustained efforts in supporting the education of Bruneian students. He noted that Brunei hopes to see more of its universities deepen collaboration with ZJU in areas such as scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship, executive training, and sustainable development. Such partnerships, he emphasized, will help Brunei cultivate high-caliber professionals, accelerate the application of scientific and technological innovations, and advance the goals of its national “Vision 2035.”

During the visit, the delegation toured ZJU’s Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Hall, where they gained deeper insights into ZJU’s AI development and its latest research achievements.
