On July 14, Tan Chee King, Consul-General of Singapore in Shanghai, led a delegation on a visit to Zhejiang University. GU Zhen, Associate Vice President of Zhejiang University, met with the delegation and held talks on expanding bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, GU Zhen introduced Zhejiang University’s academic strengths, innovation ecosystem and entrepreneurship initiatives. He highlighted Zhejiang University’s extensive collaboration with leading Singaporean universities and institutions, including the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Major joint platforms include the ZJU-SUTD Advanced Institute of Intelligent Design and the China–Singapore Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Infection Research and Drug Development.
Looking ahead, GU Zhen expressed Zhejiang University’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Singapore in areas such as talent cultivation and technological innovation, jointly nurturing high-caliber professionals with a global perspective and innovative capabilities, while promoting closer integration between scientific discovery and industrial innovation.
Tan Chee King said that the visit aimed to further strengthen educational exchanges between China and Singapore while encouraging greater interaction among young people from the two countries, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and trust. He spoke highly of Zhejiang University’s rich academic heritage and vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, and commended Zhejiang University’s distinctive contribution to China’s science and technology innovation landscape. He expressed the hope that Zhejiang University would continue to expand its multifaceted cooperation with Singaporean partners, broadening both the scope and depth of collaboration.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Zhejiang University Future Learning Center to gain further insight into Zhejiang University’s latest developments in digital education.
