“At Zhejiang University, I have improved professional and pedagogical knowledge tremendously,” said one of the Ph.D. candidates at a seminar regarding the Joint Doctoral and Undergraduate Program between Zhejiang University and Guizhou University on July 29.
Since 2009, a total of 327 Guizhou University students have received education at Zhejiang University. The Joint Doctoral Program has become one of the primary channels for the faculty of Guizhou University to pursue doctoral degrees. Up to 2017, a total of 90 Guizhou University teachers have been admitted to Zhejiang University for the doctoral program, thereby boosting the academic level of young teachers, optimizing the faculty structure and promoting career planning among young teachers.
“The close friendship between Zhejiang University and Guizhou University is a precious treasure for both universities. Assisting Guizhou University is one of the missions of Zhejiang University. Zhejiang University will invest substantial efforts in promoting the development of Guizhou University,” said ZhengQiang, Vice Party Chief of Zhejiang University, “Thanks to my five-year work at Guizhou University, I have developed deep affections for Guizhou University and I am eager to act as a coordinator to enhance cooperation between the two universities.”
“Zhejiang University has unswervingly lent generous support to Guizhou University in the past years,” said Chen Jian, Party Chief and President of Guizhou University, “I hope more and more teachers and students will have the opportunity to pursue their education at Zhejiang University.”
On July 31, Zhejiang University donated 30,000 yuan’s worth of books to Meitan-ZJU Primary School. At the donation ceremony, ZhengQiang was appointed as principal of the primary school. “Every time I come to Meitan, my soul will become purified. Zhejiang University will long remember the benevolence and kindness of the people of Meitan,” said ZhengQiang, “Zhejiang University will be glad to join hands with Meitan County in promoting the development of education there.”
“The donation of books is not only financiallyhelpful and spiritually inspiring but also emblematic of the commitment of Zhejiang University and the deep friendship between Zhejiang University and Meitan County,” Li Xie, mayor of Meitan County, said, “We feel obligated to accelerate the restructuring of education, promote the quality of schools and provide education that caters to the needs of the general public.”
