Prof. XU Xiaozhou attends UNESCO Digital Learning Week 2026

From 8 to 11 September 2026, UNESCO held Digital Learning Week at its headquarters in Paris. Mr.Khaled El-Enany, UNESCO Director-General, Mr. CHEN Qun, AssistantDirector-General for Education, Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies,and Ms.Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) attended the opening ceremony.Prof. XU Xiaozhou, UNESCO Chairholder in Entrepreneurial Education and Director of theInstitute of Educational Modernizationat Zhejiang University, was invited to attend UNESCO Digital Learning Week 2026 and delivered a keynote speech at the event.

At the parallel session entitledExpanding the frontiers of thought on AI in higher education held on 10 September, Prof. XU delivered a keynote speech entitledHumanism or AI-lism: Challenges and choices of global modern education. Taking a historical perspective, he reviewed the dual impact of technology on industry, examined the challenges posed by AI to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education, introduced China’s policies and university practices concerning AI in education, and proposed key principles and strategies for advancing global education modernization in the age of AI.The new concepts and recommendations for global education reform presented by Prof. XU attracted considerable attention from the participants. He also responded to questions concerning how UNESCO should address the challenges posed by AI, as well as policies and practices relating to AI in education.
