Zhejiang University Delegation of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences visits United Arab Emirates to promote exchanges and cooperation of “The Belt and Road Initiative”

In response to “the Belt and Road Initiative”, delegates from Zhejiang University visited United Arab Emirates University and American University of Sharjahand in this September, which were led by Prof. Ming Hu, associate Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (H&SS) and Prof. Lu Wei, Dean of College of Media and International Culture. During the visit, in-depth communications on the current situations and future cooperation were exchanged in the fields of humanities and social sciences of higher education for both countries.

On September 10, the delegation from Zhejiang University first visited American University of Sharjah. Mohamed Anabtawi, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences of AUS, together with leaders from related colleges and schools, expressed a warm welcome for our arrival. They discussed the arrangement of disciplines, interdisciplinary studies and exchanges among teachers and students, as well as a preliminary cooperative model in the future

On September 11, the delegation visited United Arab Emirates University and was warmly received by Mohamed Albaili, the Executive President of UAEU. Albaili acknowledged that Zhejiang University is renowned in both China and worldwide and hoped that two universities could seize the important opportunity of “the Belt and Road Initiative” and conduct comprehensive cooperation to enhance student and faculty mobility, research communications, social services and other aspects. Prof. Hu, on behalf of H&SS, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with College of Humanities and Social Sciences of UAEU.

During the stay in the UAE, the delegation also visited Overseas Chinese Association of Zhejiang Province in the UAE to gain information about business development in the UAE. Their president particularly expressed their needs and aspirations for Chinese education, hoped that more Chinese scholars would study the Arab culture. The association is willing to provide them with assistance and intellectual support, thereby promoting cultural and economic exchanges between two countries.
