Two projects from ZJU’s Architecture and Design Institute have been awarded Honorable Mentions by the American Architecture Prize (AAP) 2017 jury.
The first project, Zhejiang University Young Professors Club, received an honorable mention in the category of Restoration & Renovation. The club was transformed from the former Tsing Yuen Primary School in Tsingyi Village, Tonglu County, around 90 km from Hangzhou.

The project includes the renovation of two old school buildings and the construction of a new building with a capacity of 100 people. This project is marked by a perfect fusion of modern and historical elements and a seamless blend of tranquility and harmony.

Hangzhou Ya Gu Resort Hotel, the second project, received an honorable mention in Hospitality Architecture. The hotel is located on Santaishan Road in Hangzhou. Its design follows the tenet of respecting natural landscape and preserving history and achieves the connection and co-existence of nature and humanity.
The AAP is set to become one of the most respected awards in the industry and aims to showcase the phenomenal talent and vision displayed by architects all over the world. It aims to recognize individuals and teams who have made a substantial contribution to all areas of architecture. It celebrates those who push boundaries and set new standards.
