On March 24, the 2018 AIIA Contest for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine was officially launched at the 2018 China Hospital Information Network Conference (CHINC) at Hangzhou International Expo Center.

The 2018 AIIA Contest for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, part of the AIIA Artificial Intelligence Tournament, aims at promoting the provision of medical resources, revolutionizing conventional technologies and innovating service patterns so as to cater to the demands for multiple and diversified medical services, facilitate interaction between the healthcare field and the artificial intelligence field, synergize optimal resources, explore application scenarios and propel the development of artificial intelligence in medicine.
AIAA refers to the Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance, a Chinese alliance launched in October 2017. Professor PAN Yunhe, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of ZJU, serves as the first president.
The contest will last for about six months. The semi-final and the final will be held in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University and Hangzhou Future Sci-tech City respectively.
The contest will cover six different subjects, including medical robots, smart drugs, smart health management, smart image recognition, smart diagnosis and artificial intelligence in general medicine.
It is predicted that it will attract a galaxy of innovative participants in the domain of artificial intelligence in medicine. They will act as a catalyst for a fusion of medicine and artificial intelligence.
