Ocean College delegation visits Malaysia to explore collaboration

A delegation of ZJU's Ocean College paid a visit to University of Malaya (UM) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University (UTAR) in Malaysia from April 16 to 18, aiming to increase the international presence of the College and explore potential collaborations with Malaysian universities.

In UTAR, Dr. WEI Yan and the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Lai Soon Onn, director of Community and International Networking Division, Dr. Lim Tuck Meng, dean of Faculty of Science, Dr. Yong Thian Khok, deputy dean of Faculty of Engineering. Dr. WEI Yan introduced ZJU as well as Ocean College in the terms of talents cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research and academic achievements. 

“Malaysia is one of the 'One Belt and One Road' countries, so students from Malaysia who intend to apply for degree programs could benefit from scholarship policies offered by Chinese government”, said Dr. WEI. Both sides agreed to do student exchange, internship and study tour programs as a relationship breakthrough. 

On April 18, the delegation meet with Dr. Rosli Ramli, deputy dean of Faculty of Science, and department heads in UM. During the meeting, representatives from each side introduced their university and discussed the potential possibilities of collaboration as well. Dr. Rosli Ramli said "We are very much looking forward to the further collaboration with ZJU and we could start with student exchange and internship programs under certain MoUs".  

At both universities, the delegation gave a presentation to students on international student recruitment opportunities at ZJU, which attracted a lot of questions and interests.
