The 1st International Student Sports Day kicks off on Zhoushan Campus
On April 14, the 1st International Sports Day was held by International Students Association at Ocean College, Zhejiang University.
On the Sports Day, international students were grouped into Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter teams. A fierce competition kicked off with the first game “needle and thread”.
In the following games of "tog a war", "balloon stepping", "sack race", "lime and spoon" and "dog and the bone", international students exhibited their extraordinary sports skills and team spirit. Eruptions of loud cheers were heard frequently from the audience.
Members from all teams were excited about their achievements and they considered the competition an unforgettable memory in the Ocean College. The extracurricular activity aims at entertaining students in their leisure time and providing an opportunity for them to establish new contacts as they participate in the interesting games.
The interesting games called for comprehensive ability of every participant. The skills gained from sports games, such as learning to focus and to improvise, will also improve their academic performance. "Sports are perfect for balancing academic life and social activities. Sports cultivate teamwork, persistence and decision making skills. The next Sports Day is expected to be better." said XIE Chengcheng from the International Education Office of Ocean College.
