Graduates receive degrees and inspiration at the Spring Commencement

A graduation ceremony was held on Zijingang Campus for the Class of 2019 postgraduates on March 30. More than 2,200 graduating students gathered at the campus stadium to celebrate their big day.

Prof. WU Zhaohui, president of ZJU gave the farewell speech. He inspired the graduates to be life-long learners who adapt to the digitalized learning network, future leaders who cross the disciplinary boundaries, innovators who venture into the unknown frontiers, active doers who address the national needs, and brave pioneers who embrace changes. WU also underscored that the young generation are bound to "forge forward for their dreams in the global arena".

Professor WANG Lei from School of Management spoke to the graduates on behalf of all graduate mentors of the University. She encouraged the students to be propelled by courage and responsibility and keep moving forward.

Also in attendance was ZJU alumnus Dr. FU Xiangdong，director of State Key Laboratory of Plant Cells and Chromosomes, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. After sharing the memories of his university life, FU went on to encourage the students to always chase their dreams. “Never stop trying, never stop learning. Live life to the fullest, give it nothing but your best. This is what you should do in this exciting new era.”

The ceremony also included awards for the outstanding students of the Class of 2019.
