On April 14, some 500 prospective students and their families arrived at the Haining International Campus (IC) for the second IC open day. Current students and staff on campus welcomed the visitors with a wide array of activities.
Visitors explored the Campus by engaging in various activities and speaking to the current lecturers and students. Leaders of IC, including Prof. FU Qiang (Vice Dean), Prof. K.C. Ting (Vice Dean) and deans of the two joint institutes, introduced the educational philosophy and advantages of studying at the Campus and the Joint Institutes to the guests. On-site consultation meetings were organized by two joint institutes with University of Edinburgh and University of Illinois at Urbana and Champaign. Questions about the learning experience, 2019 admissions policy and other issues were answered. In addition, laboratory tours were planned for the guests by IC students.

Annual Student Cultural Festival was held on the same day. Dressed in traditional costumes, students from over 20 countries delivered wonderful performances of singing and dancing, attracting the attention of visiting students and parents.

Through the activities, prospective students were introduced to the learning environment, residential life and international atmosphere of the Campus. Parents of a senior high school student from Shanghai said they had been "keeping an eye on the International Campus" for two years. Their daughter is very interested in IC as the teaching facilities and campus environment are outstanding. "I hope the quota for Shanghai will be increased this year," said the father.
