Hidden talents of university staff revealed (1)

Editor’s message: The University is full of creative minds. Among our staff there are people of many talents. This is the first part showcasing three staff members.

Mr. WU had an interest in drawing from a young age, inspired by Chinese comic books. As time went on, WU continued to draw and taught himself on knowledge and skills on Chinese painting. WU has made his name as an artist locally.

WU is busy with security guard work but still finds time to paint every day. "Time is what you make of it and I feel uncomfortabe if my daily routine of painting is broken," he said.

Mrs. XU joined Zhejiang University as a dorm assistant in 2010. Through her interaction with the students, she is inspired by their aspiration for knowledge. In her eyes, ZJU students are chasing all kinds of dreams and they always make it. XU thinks she "should not be left behind".

Some of our students may know Mr. XU as the friendly dorm assistant that you can get always help from, but do you know that he is also a marathon runner with 105 medals?

XU is 62 years old and has been a dorm assistant at ZJU since 2009. He has been running for 17 years. Ten kilometers per day is regular for him. “Exercise is a simple and happy thing to do,” he said. This is exactly what he does.
