Hidden talents of university staff revealed (2)

Editor’s message: The University is full of creative minds.  Among our staff there are people of many talents. Here three more ZJU staff members are highlighted.

SUN Youkai, secuity guard (Zijingang Campus) and an expert on ink wash painting

Mr. SUN joined Zhejiang University as a security guard in 2011. Accidently, ink wash shrimps by him was spotted by others and highly praised, which iginites his love for this hobby.

Without any professional guidance, SUN taught himself through imitation and online classes. He devotes almost all his spare time into painting. SUN even converted part of a basement on campus into a workroom.

ZHAO Lingling, dorm assistant and a photographer

'When I was young, I liked to be photographed, and now I like to be the photographer myself!' Mrs. ZHAO told us, “The seeds of beauty have been buried in my heart, I am happy to find the subtle scenery unnoticed by others.”

Learning through WeChat public accounts, exchanging ideas with photography enthusiasts, taking photos when possible - ZHAO keeps improving her photography skills. In her works, you can always sense the natural taste of the scenery.

ZENG Fanzhong, gardener (Xixi Campus) and a root-carving artist

Mr. ZENG’s family background fuels his passion for arts. Since his childhood, ZENG has been practicing calligraphy. He is interested in root carving, stone art, bonsai and other crafts. “It is quite relaxing to do some artworks after a long, hard day at work”, he said.
