Over 1,800 leaders, including heads of state and government, business, civil society, academia and the arts, from across the world gathered at the three-day annual meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2019 on July 1-3. Also known as WEF Summer Davos, this year the meeting was held under the theme of 'Leadership 4.0—Succeeding in a New Era of Globalization'. The meeting allows participants to pool ideas as they seek to achieve sustainable, inclusive growth in a global economy that is being disrupted by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a changing geopolitical landscape, climate change and rising inequality.

Since 2016, Zhejiang University has been invited to attend Summer Davos. This year, Vice President WANG Lizhong attended a panel discussion on “Evolving Collaborative Innovation Models” together with leaders from world-class universities, including Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the National University of Singapore and the University of Tokyo, as well as CEOs from approximately 20 technology start-ups.

Promoting cooperation with international organizations and top-notch forums is one of the major missions in Global ZJU. To this end, Prof. WANG met with Dr. Lee Howell, managing director and member of the Managing Board at the World Economic Forum and shared ideas with each other on potential partnership. “Zhejiang University looks forward to entering into multi-lateral partnership so as to make more contributions to mankind,” said WANG Lizhong.
