School of Management celebrates 40th Anniversary

The 40th anniversary of the Zhejiang University School of Management and the Deans’ Forum of Business Schools were held on Zijiangang Campus on November 1. 

On the anniversary, the School of Management released a book entitled ‘Business +’ Education Ecosystem. As early as September 2017, the School introduced an educational reform and proposed the concept of building ‘Business +’ Education Ecosystem to cultivate the healthy power leading the future of China. Later, the School optimized eight majors into three undergraduate programs: business administration, accounting and information management. In January 2019, the School launched a brand-new methodology in the EMBA program by incorporating ‘Business + Science and Technology’, ‘Business + Humanities’ and ‘Business + Design’. In May 2020, it cooperated with experts from enterprises and institutions to run customized courses tailored to the needs of enterprises on the strength of multi-disciplinary integration. 

“In the past 40 years, the School of Management has created a leading brand in innovation and entrepreneurship education. The integration of knowledge in diverse disciplines has provided ampler room for convergence, the intelligence of society has opened the door to a more scientific paradigm for innovation, and the modernization of China has offered a more enabling application scenario for management,” said President WU Zhaohui in his congratulatory remarks. He expected the School of Management to boost its competitiveness in disciplinary convergence, to promote its creativity in entrepreneurship, and to maintain its vitality in the inter-connected world.

As one of the invited speakers, ZHANG Xinsheng, chairman of the International Advisory Board of the ZJU School of Management and president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, expected the School to foster the next generation of global leaders with social responsibilities and play a greater role in the sustainable development. 

The School of Management Achievement Award was conferred upon the former deans, Prof. XU Qingrui, Prof. GAO Shangquan, Prof. WANG Chongming and Prof. WU Xiaobo, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the development of the School.
