- The Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 struck while I was doing my postdoctoral work in Austria. It was on that moment that I decided to return to China to work on disaster early warning.

- We have built China’s first multi-hazard early warning system, and released early warnings for 57 destructive earthquakes. This signifies the constant improvement of China’s technology and service in the disaster early warning.

- Another thing that impressed me and later influenced my whole life was the spirit of seeking truth and pursuing innovation. As the motto of Zhejiang University, it has been guiding my practice in technological innovation for decades.
