On August 9, ZHU Shiqiang, deputy chairman of the Zhejiang University Council welcomed a delegation from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) led by Rector Panayiotis Zaphiris and Chairman of the CUT’s Board of Trustees Christos Homatas.

During the meeting, ZHU Shiqiang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of Zhejiang University’s remarkable achievements in talent cultivation, research innovation, and global engagement. He expressed his eager anticipation for forging a deeper partnership between the School of Art and Archaeology at Zhejiang University and the Cyprus University of Technology. This collaboration is envisioned to encompass a wide spectrum of activities, including student and faculty exchanges, joint curations, disciplinary alignment, and talent cultivation. These endeavors aim to not only advance regional economic and social development but also strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
Panayiotis Zaphiris expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at Zhejiang University. He offered a glimpse into the Cyprus University of Technology, touching upon its rich history, academic growth, and international cooperation. He also highlighted the broad prospects for cooperation between the two universities in the domains of teaching and research, cultural exchange, and sustainable development. Panayiotis Zaphiris proposed deepening this collaboration through various initiatives, including research internships, summer schools, and the involvement of the Confucius Institute.
