ZJU and ANU presidents meet online

On the afternoon of August 24, Prof. DU Jiangfeng, president of Zhejiang University, held an online meeting with Prof. Brian Schmidt, vice-chancellor and president of the Australian National University (ANU) and recipient of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics.

 

During the meeting, DU Jiangfeng reviewed the progress in the field of business education since the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two universities last year. Furthermore, he highlighted the significant potential for collaboration in fundamental disciplines such as physics. He expressed his eager anticipation for advancing collaborative research initiatives, facilitating student exchanges, and developing joint education programs.

Brian Schmidt conveyed his immense delight in meeting President DU Jiangfeng again in the virtual space. He underscored the paramount importance that the Australian National University places on its partnership with Zhejiang University. He emphasized the wealth of opportunities for collaboration that lie ahead for both institutions, particularly in the fields of physics, mathematics, and computer science. He also expressed his genuine enthusiasm for the prospect of visiting Zhejiang University in person.

The Australian National University, located in Canberra, the capital of Australia, is a member of the Group of Eight (G8), the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). It has earned a prestigious reputation for excellence in natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, boasting the honor of being home to six Nobel laureates.
