Delegation from Japan’s Aichi Prefecture visits Zhejiang University

On the afternoon of October 27, Governor Hideaki OHMURA of Aichi Prefecture, Japan, led a delegation to on a visit to Zhejiang University. Prof. Ren Shaobo, chairman of the Zhejiang University Council, met with the delegation, and both parties engaged in a productive dialogue regarding the potential for expanding cooperation. Also president at the meeting was HE Lianzhen, vice president of Zhejiang University.

REN Shaobo extended his heartfelt welcome to the delegation, acknowledging Aichi Prefecture’s prestige as a hub of innovation in Japan. He also highlighted Zhejiang Province’s economic vitality, development prowess, and superb innovative capabilities in China. Zhejiang University, well-reputed for its commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship, strives to join the ranks of the world’s first-rate universities. Ren Shaobo eagerly anticipated deeper collaborations in exchange programs and industry-academia-research partnerships.

Hideaki OHMURA revisited the history of the partnership between Aichi Prefecture and Zhejiang University. He introduced “STATION Ai”—a facility designed to support start-ups in Aichi Prefecture, and provided suggestions for the potential areas of cooperation. He expressed hope for innovative, multi-dimensional, and multi-level collaborations between higher education institutions and businesses in Aichi Prefecture and Zhejiang University.  

During the meeting, Hideaki OHMURA gained an in-depth understanding of Zhejiang University’s culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Zhejiang University Science and Technology Museum and expressed their admiration for the University’s remarkable achievements in recent years in the field of scientific research.
