On November 10, a delegation led by Peter Lievens, Vice Rector of KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) in Belgium, visited Zhejiang University. WU Jian, Vice President of Zhejiang University met with the guests. Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Office of Global Engagement, the School of Management, and the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

In her warm reception, WU Jian extended a gracious welcome to the delegation. She provided an overview of Zhejiang University’s recent developments in disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and global engagement. Reflecting on the existing partnership between the two institutions, she emphasized the considerable potential for collaboration, particularly given the strong ties between Zhejiang Province and West Flanders Province. WU Jian expressed her anticipation for the exploration of short-term exchange programs for undergraduates, the launch of master’s and doctoral programs, the promotion of research collaboration across various domains, and the strengthening of bonds in areas such as education digitization and sustainable development.
Peter Lievens conveyed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Zhejiang University. He applauded the achievements of Zhejiang University and the fruitful collaboration between the two universities. He shared insights into KU Leuven’s focus on global engagement, highlighting the existing consensus and future prospects for cooperation. He emphasized the importance of various forms of student exchanges, joint efforts in advancing education for future development, and collaborative solutions to contemporary challenges. He proposed that interactions between the two universities be enhanced and cooperation around key projects be expanded.
