Vice President HE Lianzhen meets with Cornell University’s Vice Provost

On the afternoon of November 11, HE Lianzhen, vice president of Zhejiang University, met with Wendy Wolford, vice provost for International Affairs at Cornell University, and Hua Ying, academic director of Cornell China Center.

Both parties made a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in the first phase of strategic cooperation projects and student exchange programs. They expressed their commitment to further advancing collaboration in scientific research among faculty members and promoting integrated learning initiatives for students. The shared goal is to make significant contributions to enhancing Sino-U.S. cultural exchanges and addressing global challenges via interdisciplinary research and joint talent cultivation. The meeting also featured discussions on expanding cooperation in the field of design studies.

Cornell University, founded in 1865, is one of the Ivy League universities in the United States. It has been a key partner for Zhejiang University since the inception of their inter-university partnership in 2011. The collaboration has evolved over the years, leading to the launch of a dual bachelor’s degree program in agronomy in 2012. In 2020, the two universities consolidated their ties with the establishment of a strategic cooperation project, focusing on research collaboration in the fields of agronomy, chemical engineering, public administration, and food science.
