ZJU President DU Jiangfeng meets with US Consul General Scott Walker

On the morning of March 22, DU Jiangfeng, President of Zhejiang University, met with Mr. Scott Walker, Consul General at the US Consulate General in Shanghai, and his delegation on Zijingang Campus.

President DU Jiangfeng extended his heartfelt welcome to Mr. Scott Walker and his delegation. He provided an overview of Zhejiang University, highlighting its strides in carbon neutrality research and transnational education programs. He emphasized the university’s commitment to open education and expressed his hope that bilateral exchanges between Chinese and American youth will be fostered through an array of distinctive initiatives such as summer research programs and summer schools. He also looked forward to enhancing collaboration with the United States on shared concerns such as climate change and public health, aiming to explore effective ways to address global challenges together.

Mr. Scott Walker commended ZJU’s outstanding achievements in education and expressed his sincere appreciation for ZJU’s dedication to promoting Sino-American educational partnership. He stressed the significance of educational exchanges in enhancing bilateral relations and expressed the earnest desire to facilitate American students’ increased participation in Chinese exchanges and studies. Mr. Scott Walker also introduced diverse cultural exchange programs initiated by the Consulate and encouraged Chinese universities to deepen ties with the United States and explore cooperation prospects through these enriching programs.

During the visit, Mr. Scott Walker and his delegation also visited the State Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization to gain insight into the laboratory’s operations and remarkable research accomplishments.

Also present at the meeting were YAN Jianhua, Vice Chairman of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University, and representatives from the Office of Global Engagement and International College.
