McGill University Vice-President visits Zhejiang University to strengthen ties

On the morning of March 5, Anja Geitmann, Vice-President (Global Engagement) of McGill University, paid a visit to Zhejiang University to deepen institutional collaboration and explore new avenues for partnership.  

ZHOU Jianghong, Vice-President of Zhejiang University, extended a warm welcome to Geitmann and her delegation. The meeting was also attended by leaders from Office of Global Engagement, School of Management, College of Life Sciences, and Children’s Hospital of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

During the meeting, ZHOU Jianghong introduced Zhejiang University’s recent achievements in discipline development, interdisciplinary research, and international collaboration. He stressed the robust foundation of cooperation already established with McGill University and outlined potential areas for expanded collaboration. These include enhancing student exchange programs, advancing joint research initiatives in management and pediatrics, and fostering partnerships in life sciences, sustainable development, and AI-driven education.

Geitmann expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and commended the progress made in the two universities’ collaborative efforts. She outlined McGill University’s initiatives focused on sustainable campus development and research, emphasizing the pivotal role universities play in addressing global challenges. She also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary, cross-border cooperation in tackling such issues and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Zhejiang University, particularly in student exchanges, doctoral training, and sustainable development education.

Representatives from Zhejiang University’s School of Management, College of Life Sciences, and Children’s Hospital provided updates on their ongoing collaborations with McGill University. They discussed specific achievements and explored opportunities to further enhance cooperation at the disciplinary level.

The visit marks a significant step forward in the strategic partnership between McGill University and Zhejiang University, setting the stage for expanded cooperation in research, education, and innovation.
