On March 21, Peter Harrison, Senior Vice President at Elsevier, led a delegation to Zhejiang University, where they were warmly welcomed by Vice President HUANG Xianhai. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Office of Global Engagement, Zhejiang University Press, and Zhejiang University Library.

During the meeting, Huang provided an update on the university’s recent advancements in scientific research and journal development. He emphasized the strength of the existing cooperation with Elsevier and expressed optimism about deepening ties in areas such as joint journal creation, co-publishing, and the exchange of academic resources. He also stressed the importance of enhancing the global impact of scholarly work, particularly in addressing global challenges.
In response, Harrison shared insights into Elsevier’s mission and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with Chinese institutions. He acknowledged Zhejiang University’s impressive achievements and underscored Elsevier’s commitment to leveraging its rich experience in academic publishing. Harrison noted that the company is eager to collaborate further with the university through coordinated efforts, aiming to amplify the global reach and influence of high-impact academic research.
Following the meeting, Harrison and his colleagues engaged in a lively talk with faculty and journal editors from various departments, including the School of Earth Sciences, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the College of Environmental & Resource Sciences and the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology. The discussion centered on strategies for journal development, cooperation models, and future plans for academic publishing.
