On May 18, as part of Zhejiang University’s 128th anniversary celebrations, 128 alumni couples returned to campus for a heartfelt group wedding ceremony. What began as youthful admiration on campus has now blossomed into lifelong commitment, with the ceremony marking both a celebration of love and a tribute to the place where many of their journeys began.

Held annually since 2012 during the university’s anniversary season, the ZJU Alumni Group Wedding has become a cherished tradition. Over the past 14 years, it has witnessed more than 2,000 alumni couples embark on new chapters of life together. Each year, the number of participating couples corresponds to the university’s age—this year, 128 couples were invited to celebrate ZJU’s 128th year. The event has grown into a signature occasion, honoring enduring love and the deep bonds alumni share with their alma mater.

ZJU President MA Yanming officiated the ceremony and delivered heartfelt remarks on behalf of the University. He congratulated the 128 alumni couples and expressed his joy at joining them to witness the beginning of their new journey together.

“This journey ahead will be filled with the unknown—marked by both challenges and surprises,” he said, encouraging them to grow through love and responsibility, remain committed to the greater good, and let their personal stories resonate with the broader development of their alma mater and country.

Vice President HUANG Xianhai accepted a special gift from the couples: a time capsule of handwritten blessings for their alma mater. Each message reflected deep affection and enduring gratitude, symbolizing the bond between the couples and their university.

WANG Jie, a professor from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, delivered a touching message. He urged the couples to face life’s challenges hand in hand, to embrace each other with openness and empathy, and to carry forward the ZJU spirit as they build families grounded in care and purpose.

Four alumni couples took the stage to share their love stories, reflecting on how ZJU brought them together and how each corner of the campus holds memories of their time in love and learning. “Thank you, ZJU,” they said, “for being the place where we met, grew, and now return to begin anew.”

Parents of the newlyweds also spoke with emotion, “We’re proud, a little wistful, and deeply grateful. May your love be your compass on the journey ahead—carrying you toward a future as bright as the stars.”
