President of Vietnam National University visits Zhejiang University

On May 22, a delegation from Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), led by President Vu Hai Quan, paid a visit to Zhejiang University. The delegation was warmly received by ZHOU Jianghong, Vice President of Zhejiang University.

ZHOU Jianghong extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced Zhejiang University’s educational philosophy, disciplinary development, and international partnerships. He noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam as well as the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, presenting new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. ZHOU Jianghong expressed Zhejiang University’s keen interest in deepening cooperation with VNU-HCM in talent cultivation and research collaboration, particularly in fields such as computer science and agriculture. He also welcomed more outstanding Vietnamese students to pursue studies in Chinese language and China studies at Zhejiang University, and proposed joint efforts in sustainable development, the digital economy, and technology transfer.

Vu Hai Quan remarked that this visit marked VNU-HCM’s first official exchange with Zhejiang University and praised its impressive achievements and campus development. He emphasized that, in the face of a complex and evolving international cooperation landscape, VNU-HCM looks forward to establishing a strong partnership with Zhejiang University. He proposed close collaboration in cutting-edge fields, including artificial intelligence and agricultural biotechnology, while also promoting two-way faculty and student exchanges, and diverse cultural exchange activities. He also encouraged VNU-HCM students to pursue further studies at Zhejiang University.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the ZJU–Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center, where they gained a deeper understanding of Zhejiang University’s collaboration with the city of Hangzhou to drive forward technological innovation.
