On July 11, ZHOU Jianghong, Vice President of Zhejiang University, met with a visiting Cuban delegation attending the ministerial workshop on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

ZHOU extended a warm welcome to the guests and shared with them ZJU’s updates on overall development, academic disciplines, international engagement, and innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing innovative talent equipped for the future, and expressed his hopes to further strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Cuba. He also highlighted the potential for partnerships with leading Cuban universities, encouraging two-way exchanges of faculty and students, and fostering deeper cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Mercedes Delgado Fernández, head of the delegation and Rector of Cuba’s Higher School of State and Government Cadres, commended ZJU for its scale, teaching excellence, and disciplinary strengths. She expressed her aspiration to expand collaboration between Cuban universities and ZJU in high-tech fields, and to jointly develop talent programs that will contribute to Cuba’s national development.
