President of Singapore University of Social Sciences Tan Tai Yong visits Zhejiang University

On September 5, Zhejiang University (ZJU) welcomed a delegation from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), led by its president, Professor Tan Tai Yong. The delegation was received by ZHU Hui, Deputy Chairperson of the ZJU Council.

In her remarks, ZHU Hui shared ZJU’s recent progress in disciplinary development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and global engagement. She noted the longstanding academic and cultural exchanges between ZJU and Singapore, adding that this year’s 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore provides new momentum for collaboration. She voiced her hope to strengthen ties with SUSS in fields such as intelligent design, law, and sustainable development. She also extended an invitation to outstanding SUSS students to join exchange programs at ZJU, encouraging them to become future ambassadors of academic and cultural dialogue between the two countries.

Professor Tan Tai Yong introduced the educational philosophy of SUSS, emphasizing its strong commitment to lifelong learning and its rich experience in continuing education. He also stressed SUSS’s active support for student internships as well as innovation and entrepreneurship programs, and expressed his anticipation of fostering closer connections with ZJU faculty and students alike. In addition, he underscored SUSS’s engagement with pressing social issues such as aging and community service, and looked forward to cooperating with ZJU in these areas to jointly advance social progress and sustainable development.

This visit further deepened the partnership between ZJU and SUSS, laying the groundwork for broader collaboration and shared contributions to education, research, and societal development.
